Botanical Description
Phyllanthus emblica is a small to medium deciduous tree reaching approximately 1–8 meters (3.5–26 ft) in height. The bark is mottled and exfoliating. Branchlets are finely pubescent and typically 10–20 cm (4–8 in) long. Leaves are simple, subsessile, and closely arranged along branchlets, giving a pinnate-like appearance. Flowers are greenish-yellow. The fruit is nearly spherical, smooth, firm, and light greenish-yellow with six vertical furrows.
