Botanical Description

Nigella sativa is an annual flowering botanical reaching approximately 20–30 cm (7.9–11.8 in) in height. It bears finely divided linear foliage and delicate pale blue to white flowers composed of five to ten petals. The fruit forms a large, inflated capsule consisting of multiple united follicles, each containing numerous small black seeds traditionally used in culinary and medicinal systems.
